Come one, come all!

We had a lot of visitors that came to see baby Sofia!

                                                                    Pics of Suri Jean

First, my mom arrived a week early to make sure she'd be here for Sofia's arrival...and be here to watch Suri while we stayed at the hospital. Then my brother, Abbott, came a week after her... and was able to feel Sofia kicking and moving in my tummy. Then, 3 days later, Miss Sofia, came into the world! (as you all know by now). Then my brother, Elliott, came in a few days later. Unfortunately, my Pop (Kevin) was unable to make it out here, but hopefully we'll see him (and everyone else again) soon!! While they were here, we checked out La Jolla Cove and they did some shopping & sight-seeing on their own, and my brother and I went to a Padres game. We also celebrated Seth's 27th birthday while they were here - and found this amazing new restaurant - Slater's 50/50! YUM! We enjoyed our time with my family and it was a great help having them all here to play with Suri, while Seth and I were occupied with the new baby. I miss them so much every day and can't wait to see them all again :) Love you all!

Then we received a visit from Seth's parents for the weekend. Once again, it was super helpful having them around & so fun to see them play with Suri and love on her and new baby Sofia. They played out the courtyard with Suri and woke up with her in the mornings watching 'Blue's Clues!' (her favorite!) It was a great visit & we will be seeing them again real soon...next week ;)

Now it's our turn to travel, and that means Sunday we will be headed up to Pismo Beach to visit with Seth's mom & her crew for a couple of days - and then we'll spend the rest of the week in Bakersfield, so that the rest of the family on Seth's side can meet Miss Sofia!

Sofia is doing pretty well and does just what the title of our favorite baby book says, 'Eat. Sleep. Poop.' She doesn't fall asleep in her own bed though - only in our arms - and then wakes up when you try to set her down in her bed : /  So that's a bit difficult right now. Suri's slowly adjusting. Definitely pushing our buttons as far as she can & testing her limits. She is hitting a lot & throwing anything & everything! But she does have her sweet moments where she wants to hold her sister or give her kisses, and every night before bed she always wants to give sissy double kisses - and could care less about giving them to mommy & daddy. It's been a slow adjustment for us all, but things will get better with time and hopefully easier too... wishful thinking I'm sure : p   But overall, we are a happy little family, enjoying each new adventure that comes our way <3 Sc

Sofia Edie - July 6, 2012

This was me the morning of July 6, 2012! Still very pregnant. I had a doctor's appointment later on that afternoon, where the doctor told me she expected I would go into labor any time within the next few days... little did she know...

...I started having contractions after the doctor visit, and they became much stronger around 5 pm that evening, so we headed to the hospital's Triage department, where...I was monitored for about a half hour and then told I could either return home, or walk around for two hours to see if I progress further.... so we walked... and walked... and ate some dinner... and then walked, well, tried to walk, but the contractions were getting so intense that I could barely move and we headed back up to Triage... me in tears, and Seth trying to keep his composure as it seemed to take FOREVER for them to get me up to the Labor & Delivery rooms... finally I was taken to a room around 9 pm & got an epidural (which was pretty painful & is the part I looked forward to the least)... then after an hour and a half or so, I progressed to about 8 cm and they called for the doctor... she came and decided to break my waters and I began pushing soon after... it didn't take very long...and Sofia Edie was born into this world on her expected due date... 6 hours total... from contractions to birth... much shorter than my 18 hour birth with Suri....and here she is -

We are enjoying every day with our new little bundle of joy! Suri likes to watch her all the time and wants to hold her whenever she can. She does pretty well being gentle with her, but sometimes can be a little rough... but what can you expect from an almost two year old! She gives her kisses and calls her baby...it's super sweet & I know that they will be great friends once they're both older! We're slowly adjusting to our little family of four, and feel extremely blessed for what God has given us in these two amazing little girls!
Let the new adventures begin...
